Pop Culture: Pop Icons

Pop Culture: Pop Icons Edition⭐

Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jordan, Madonna, Stan Lee, what do all of these names have in common? I'll tell you, they're all extremely famous pop icons. These are just a few in the many names of people who've made their name known not only in history but in pop culture. They've have come to be regarded as pop icons which are otherwise described celebrities, and characters or things whose gained popularity during their respective era. The term pop icon is given to a person, character, or an object whose popularity will stan until the end of time. Pop icons are going to be known as people/things/characters whom you can recognize in an instant. They're people who because of their success and popularity have impacted our world, society, and culture. While researching I saw this criteria to know if someone is a pop icon, it said:
  • "Do they pass the one-name test?
  • Can you dress up as them for Halloween?
  • Did they blaze a trail in pop culture?
  • Did they create a signature character in pop culture?
  • Can you quote them (or their character) in 10 seconds or less? (Do they have a catchphrase?)
  • Did society imitate their sense of fashion? Hairstyle?
  • Did "SNL" create a sketch satirizing them?
  • Did someone write a song about them?
  • Was or is there merchandising/paraphernalia that bears their image"?
Last but not least ask yourself if any of your idols, favorite characters or things are known as pop icons.

Pop Culture: Anime

Pop Culture: Anime Edition⭐ Father and Son duo Minato and Naruto alongside the 9 tails fox Kurama in the hit anime Naruto.    Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Bleach are just a few amongst the plethora of popular anime. Anime is defined as a Japanese style of cartoons that are mostly aimed at adults and children. I remember when I was growing up if you liked anime, you'd be deemed as a nerd or weird. Now flashforward 10 years later, anime has gotten a pretty good reception amongst American culture. What makes it influential is its amazing story-telling, growth amongst characters, aesthetics, and cool graphics. Movies like the Matrix and Ghost In The Shell were heavily influenced by anime. The anime characters would go on to influence American cartoons by cartoons introducing characters who now had big round eyes and facial expressions. Some examples of these would be Teen Titans Go, Nickelodeon's Avatar The Last Airbender and The Boondock...

Pop Culture: TV & Movies

Pop Culture: TV & Movies⭐ Lord Vader having a murdering spree on the Rebel Alliance ship in Rogue One.    S tar Wars, Black Panther, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, The Office and Flavor of Love. All of these movies and shows have made their mark by either breaking box office records, having enormous fanbases, making cultural impacts and bringing in iconic and classic gifs for years to come. Some other movies that are important in pop culture are The Wizard of Oz, The Godfather, and Scarface. The Wizard of Oz is significantly important because it was one of the first movies shot in technicolor. What makes a movie and show enjoyable is the basis of a good plot , if it doesn't have a good plot then would you really want to watch it?   An example is in the 1977 hit film Star Wars: A New Hope, the plot in this movie was that a young Luke Skywalker alongside with the help of some new friend Han Solo and Chewbacca, m...
